I Will Fix It

(Aunt Tori here)

Yesterday, I took a new flower pinwheel to Vittoria's grave because one of the petals fell off the one my girls had given her and broke when we had some strong winds in Price. So we just replaced it with a new one. Well, everytime we go to visit Vittoria, I have to tell Camryn about Vittoria. This time was no different.
Just a little back ground about Camryn, she is, for reasons I don't know, very into dying and killing. For example: "I need to kill those crocodiles" or "Those bad guys will get us, we need to kill them" or while she's playing with her dolls she'll come in and say "She's dead, my girl is dead."
Well, when I told her that Vittoria was dead she asked me "Who killed her?" I told her that no one killed her, but that her heart got sick. So Camryn said, "Her sickies killed her?"
"Yes, her heart got sick and they couldn't fix it and she died."
Camryn said to me, very excited, "I can fix her heart!"
"You can fix her heart?"
"Yes! I have batteries!"
It was just the sweetest thing you ever heard. The innocence of a child is so amazing. If only it could be that simple. I'm sure we would all line up to give Vittoria our batteries if that was all it took.
Of course I called Val to tell her what Camryn had said and we each had a little cry, but that's okay. Everyone needs a little cry now and then.
We love you Vittoria and even though we miss you SO MUCH, at least now your heart is perfect and you are perfect and having the most amazing time while you watch over us and take care of your family.

"Lo aggiustero' io"
(scrive Zia Tori)

13 Months-13 Mesi

(Mom's turn)

13 months and 7 days have gone by since our little girl has left us. Yes, I guess I'm counting the days and months that go by, I can't help it, the pain is so alive and intense and I can't believe that she is really gone, I can't wrap my head around it. Maybe it's still denial, maybe it's just plain heartache of a parent who hopes to wake up from this nightmare, I don't know, I just know that I miss our Vittoria with every fiber of my being.

We went to Price to visit James' family and to make our monthly visit to Vittoria's grave. It was still very pretty around with the green lawn, the perfect fall temperature and the blue sky it was a nice quiet day to be at the cemetery. I went by myself for the first time. I brought her purple flowers and sat there for a while surround by nothing except silence. It was incredibly tough to do, but I needed to do it for my own sake.

We spent four days hanging out and watching movies, Jacomo got to play with his cousins and I visited friends and family. It was a good and relaxing time and so much needed.
Mary, my sis-in-law, sent me a very touching email with this poem included. I don't know how she knew I needed these words more than ever. Thank you sweet Mary for thinking of me.
Grazie Mary per aver pensato a me.

I thought of you and closed my eyes
And prayed to God today
I asked "What makes a Mother?"
And I know I heard Him say."

A Mother has a baby"
This we know is true"
But God can you be a Mother,
When your baby's not with you?"

"Yes, you can," He replied
With confidence in His voice"
I give many women babies,
When they leave is not their choice.

Some I send for a lifetime,
And others for the day.
And some I send to feel your womb,
But there's no need to stay."

"I just don't understand this God
I want my baby to be here."
He took a deep breath andcleared His throat,
And then I saw the tear.

"I wish I could show you,
What your child is doing today.
If you could see your child's smile,
With all the other children and say...

'We go to Earth to learn our lessons,
Of love and life and fear.
My Mommy loved me oh so much,
I got to come straight here.

I feel so lucky to have a Mom,
Who had so much love for me.
I learned my lessons very quickly,
My Mommy set me free.

I miss my Mommy oh so much,
But I visit her every day.
When she goes to sleep,
On her pillow's where I lay

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek,
And whisper in her ear.
Mommy don't be sad today,
I'm your baby and I'm here.'

"So you see my dear sweet ones,
your children are okay.
Your babies are born here in My home,
And this is where they'll stay.

They'll wait for you with Me,
Until your lesson's through.
And on the day that you come home
they'll be at the gates for you.

So now you see what makes a Mother,
It's the feeling in your heart
it's the love you had so much of
Right from the very start."

E l'ho sentito dire:
"Una madre ha un/a bimbo/a"
"e questo so che e' vero,
ma Signore come puoi essere madre
quando il/la tuo/a bimbo/a non e' con te?"
"Lo puoi essere lo stesso" Lui rispose
con sicurezza nella voce
"Do' a molte donne dei bimbi

"Allora vedete miei dolci cari,
i vostri bimbi stanno bene.
proprio dall'inizio".
