Thanksgiving 2012-Festa del Ringraziamento 2012

Like every year now, we spent Thanksgiving at the cabin with James' family, except this time it was just the 3 of us and James' parents. A little bit of snow covered the ground enough to make the air cold and crispy. Jacomo had a blast through it all, helping James and Grandpa Neil restock the wood pile and cut down a Christmas tree for the cabin.

Come quasi ogni anno, la nostra famiglia ha trascorso il Ringraziamento alla baita con la famiglia di James, eccetto che questa volta eravamo solo noi 3 in compagnia dei genitori di James. Un po` di neve ricopriva il terreno, abbastanza da rendere l'aria parecchio fredda, ma niente poteva dissuadere Jacomo dal correre e giocare e ad aiutare James e il nonno Neil a rifornire la riserva di legna e a tagliare un albero di Natale per la baita.

At the beginning of November, we got our first big snow storm of the year and oh boy, were we excited!! So excited that Jacomo couldn't wait to throw his first snowball bare feet and all!

All'inizio di novembre, abbiamo finalmente avuto la prima grande nevicata dell'anno e siamo stati super contenti, Jacomo era talmente felice che non ha voluto aspettare a tirare la sua prima palla di neve e non l'ha fermato neanche l'essere senza scarpe!

Finalmente si e` vestito adeguatamente per andare a giocare nella neve!

James and Jacomo took a trip to Price in a very unusual vehicle of transportation, and Jacomo absolutely loved it!
James e Jacomo hanno fatto un viaggio a Price in veicolo si trasporto molto particolare e a Jacomo e` piaciuto tantissimo!

Since James and Jacomo were gone for this anniversary, the thought of being alone scared me quite a bit, it's so true when they say that at night all the sadness and grief come rushing and are ampliefied by the silence of an empty home. Fortunately once again my dear friend Donata and her family came to rescue and we watched movies and visited and then I spent the night at their house.
Visto che James e Jacomo erano fuori citta` per questo anniversario, il solo pensiero di essere sola mi spaventava parecchio, e` vero quando si dice che e` durante la sera che la tristezza e il dolore arrivano in modo travolgente e sono amplificati dal silenzio di una casa vuota. Per fortuna ancora una volta, la mia cara amica Donata e la sua famiglia sono venuti in mio soccorso, cosi`abbiamo trascorso la serata a vedere film e a chiacchierare per poi trascorrere la notte a casa loro.

Jacomo is 4!! Jacomo compie 4 anni!!

Our little boy is 4! We can't believe, it seems like yesterday that he came into our life and made it so much happier, fun and challenging. He was born at 6 lbs and 19 inches, with lots of long dark hair.
I never thought he would change so much in just 4 years:  his hair is now lighter brown and his eyes brown/green,and he is pretty tall. He definitely didn't get his height from his mom, thank goodness!
Il nostro bimbo ha 4 anni! E` incredibile, sembra ieri che e` venuto al mondo e ha reso la nostra vita piu` felice, divertente ma anche piu` impegnativa. Alla nascita pesava 2.7 Kg ed era lungo 48 cm, con tanti capelli scuri e lunghi. Mai avrei immaginato quanto sarebbe cambiato in 4 anni: i capelli sono castano chiaro, gli occhi cambiano colore dal marrone a verde scuro, un po` come il papa` ed e` parecchio alto, per fortuna non ha preso l'altezza da me!

Jacomo is a  good and very funny boy, very stubborn, affectionate, polite and helpful, but oh boy, does he have his moments! His tantrums are not as frequent as they used to be, but I remember a few times when I seriously didn't know what to do. Our life with our little Jacomo is so very different from the life we used to know with our Vittoria. This boy is always on the go, 24/7, and the stuff he does scares me big time. His back flips and dives from the couch are just adding gray hair to us poor parents, but he would do anything to make us laugh, and he does make us laugh. We are so very thankful to have him, we love him so very much and we are trying our best to be good parents to him, it's not always easy, but life is too fragile and uncertain and we have little treasures right in front of our eyes that we can focus on... our children!

Jacomo e` un bravo bimbo, molto divertente e parecchio testardo, affettuoso, cortese e servizievole, ma quando gli prendono i 5 minuti!! I suoi capricci non sono frequenti come una volta, ma ricordo alcune volte che non avevo la piu` pallida idea di cosa fare. La nostra vita con Jacomo e` cosi` diversa dalla vita che conoscevamo con la nostra Vittoria. Questo bimbo non si ferma mai, 24 ore su 24, 7 giorni su 7 e le cose che fa mi spaventano tantissimo. I suoi salti all'indietro e i tuffi dal divano aumentano i capelli bianchi a noi poveri genitori, ma farebbe qualsiasi cosa per farci ridere e Jacomo ci fa davvero ridere. Siamo davvero grati di averlo come figlio, gli vogliamo un bene dell'anima e cerchiamo di essere buoni genitori, non e` sempre facile, ma la vita e` troppo fragile e imprevedibile, abbiamo dei piccoli grandi tesori proprio di fronte ai nostri occhi.....i nostri figli!!

Jacomo woke up on the morning of his birthday so excited! After breakfast, he got to open my parents' gift while Skyping with them. It was really neat and special. Later in the afternoon, we gather with dear family friends to celebrate his birthday and opening presents. Thank you to that were able to come and to those far away who called and send cards and gifts. We appreciate your generosity and friendship. We love you!

Jacomo si e` svegliato la mattina del suo compleanno cosi` contento! Dopo colazione, ha aperto il regalo dai miei genitori mentre erano in diretta su Skype. E` stato davvero speciale. Piu` tardi, nel pomeriggio, con cari amici di famiglia ci siamo riuniti per celebrare il compleanno di Jacomino. Grazie a quelli che sono potuti venire e a quelli lontani che hanno chiamato e mandato biglietti di auguri e regali, Grazie per la vostra generosita` e amicizia. Vi vogliamo bene!

HALLOWEEN 2012

A couple of days before Halloween, we spent the evening drawing and carving pumpkins. It was a little family activity that we have enjoyed doing with our kids and Jacomo finally got to clean out his pumkin for the first time. Judging from the pictures, I don't think he was that impressed, but he did it.
Un paio di giorni prima di Halloween, abbiamo trascorso la serata disegnando e intagliando le zucche. E` una piccola attivita` per famiglia che amiamo fare con i nostri bambini e Jacomo finalmente ha pulito la sua zucca tutto da solo per la prima volta. A giudicare dalle foto pero` non penso che sia rimasto favorevolmente colpito, ma nonostante qualche protesta, l'ha fatto.

Halloween 2008- Halloween day had not even been over that Vittoria was already thinking about Halloween 2009 and what she wanted to dress like. She wanted to be Scarlett O'Hara from "Gone With the Wind". Sweet baby girl, now you can be anything you want!

Halloween 2008-Il giorno di Halloween non era neanche finito che Vittoria gia` stava pensando all'Halloween dell'anno successivo e a cosa le sarebbe piaciuto essere. Voleva essere Rossella O'Hara di "Via col Vento". Dolcissimo tesoro, adesso puoi essere quello che vuoi!
