First Snow-Prima Nevicata

Winter is finally here. On Sunday morning to woke up to 9 inches of snow and what a beautiful sight! I love the snow, maybe because makes everything look peaceful and serene, or maybe because to me the snow always meant the Christmas season and family gatherings.
L'inverno e` finalmente arrivato. Domenica mattina ci siamo svegliati e abbiamo trovato 23 centimetri di neve e che meraviglia! Amo la neve, forse perche` rende tutto piu` tranquillo e sereno, o forse perche` ho sempre associato la neve con la stagione natalizia e riunioni di famiglia.

We shoveled snow for a couple of hours and Jacomo played and "helped" clear the driveway. It was cool to see all the neighbors outside working side by side, helping each other and chatting away. I felt like I was in a movie.
Jacomo loves the snow and we are looking forward to take him snowmobiling and sledding, I think this year it would be more fun for him, as he gets older he can take part of our winter activities.
Abbiamo spalato la neve per un paio d'ore e Jacomo di e` divertito a giocare e ha pure "aiutato" a pulire davanti al garage. E` stato fico vedere i vicini tutti intorno a noi che spalavano, si aiutavano l'un con l'altro e chiacchieravano. Mi sembrava di essere in un film.
A Jacomo piace molto la neve e non vediamo l'ora di portarlo sulle motoslitte e sullo slittino, penso che quest'anno sara` piu` divertente per lui, con il diventare piu` grande puo` prendere parte alle nostre attivita` invernali.
Our Vittoria loved snow also. She would have been outside for hours in the cold if she could have, loved snowmobiling with her dad and sledding, or just exploring around with her cousins.
Anche la nostra Vittoria amava la neve. Sarebbe rimasta fuori al freddo per ore se solo le fosse stato concesso, amava andare sulla motoslitta e sullo slittino e esplorare i dintorni della baita con le cugine.

15 Months- 15 Mesi

15 months have gone by, but we miss you so much, no words can describe the pain in our hearts. We long to hear your voice ... your little sweet voice, singing ! We love you Always,

sono passati 15 mesi, ma ci manchi da morire, nessuna parola puo` descrivere il dolore nei nostri cuori. Desideriamo piu` di ogni cosa sentire la tua voce...la tua vocina cosi` dolce che canta!!

HALLOWEEN 2010

(Mom's turn)

This year for Halloween we left town. We never did before (except for the times that we were in Italy). We decided to spend Halloween up in the mountains with Vittoria's best friend and her family, very close friends of ours. We welcomed this change in our life, we didn't really feel like celebrating and I could feel the anxiety increase as Halloween was getting closer. So we left.
Quest'anno per Halloween abbiamo deciso di andarcene dalla citta`. Non lo abbiamo mai fatto prima (eccetto per le volte che eravamo in Italia). Abbiamo cosi` deciso di trascorrere questa fest in montagna con la migliore amica di Vittoria e la sua famiglia, che sono nostri amici stretti. Abbiamo molto gradito questo cambiamento di programma, non ci sentivamo di festeggiare e la mia ansia aumentava con l'avvicinarsi di Halloween. Cosi` siamo partiti. We had a good time. We ( I mean they) rode horses for hours, the kids even got to ride their own horse, we went four-wheeling under the rain and snow ( that was awesome!), we watched movies, went fishing (tried!), visited, the kids played and just had a relaxing and calm time.
Siamo stati bene. Loro hanno fatto giri a cavallo per ore, ognuno dei bambini aveva il proprio cavallo, siamo andati sulle quad sotto la pioggia e la neve ( troppo forte!), abbiamo visto dei film, abbiamo provato a pescare, i bambini hanno giocato tantissimo e noi ci siamo rilassati.





And then, on Sunday we carved pumpkins (Jacomo mostly watched and played with the seeds!).
Poi, la domenica, abbiamo tagliato e inciso le zucche ( Jacomo si e` limitato a guardare e a giocare con i semi!).

Vittoria is in everything we do. Just because almost 15 months have passed, it doesn't mean that time is healing all things. We miss her, she's always there with us, in our minds and hearts. I know she would be proud of her little brother riding the horse by himself or riding the four-wheeler like a big boy.
Vittoria e` in tutto quello che facciamo. Solo perche` sono trascorsi 15 mesi non significa che il tempo sta guarendo le cose. Ci manca, lei e` sempre li` con noi, nei nostri pensieri e nei nostri cuori. Sarebbe orgogliosa di vedere il fratellino andare a cavallo da solo o sulla quad come un bimbo grande.
