Halloween 2011

We started out the month of October with a trip to Gardner Village, decorated in Halloween theme for the holiday. We took Vittoria's best friend, B. and her little brother L. to go see the witches and decorations with us.
All'inizio del mese di ottobre abbiamo portato Jacomo, la migliore amica di Vittoria, B. e suo fratello piu` piccolo L. al Gardner Village, decorato per l'occasione per Halloween.




A couple of weekends later, we went to the cabin with our dearest friends and their kids. We had an awesome time together, riding four-wheelers, horses, talking and playing and of course eating!
Un paio di weekend dopo, siamo andati alla baita con i nostri cari amici e i loro figli. Siamo stati benissimo insieme, con giri sulle quad, a cavallo, e tra una chiacchera e l'altra, abbiamo mangiato tantissimo, come al solito!

Right before Halloween, Jacomo spent 4 days with James' parents and he had a blast. He helped Grandpa on the farm, hung out with Grandma at the house, and played really hard with his cousins, especially with Harley and Jocelyn and Joelle. So, one day he stayed at Aunt Joy's and played in the backyard with Jocelyn. I love these pictures of these two, they look like they had a very fun time together. Thank you Joy for taking these!
Poco prima di Halloween, Jacomo ha trascorso 4 giorni con i genitori di James e si e` divertito parecchio. Ha aiutato Grandpa alla fattoria, ha tracorso il tempo con Grandma, e ha giocato tantissimo con le cuginette, specialmente Harley, Jocelyn e Joelle. Un pomeriggio e` rimasto a casa di zia Joy e ha giocato in giardino con Jocelyn. Queste foto mi piacciono tantissimo, e si vede che si sono divertiti insieme.










On Halloween afternoon, Jacomo all dressed up like a cowboy, started trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. It had been warm day all day but Jacomo, recovering from a 102.4 fever of the day before, was done after barely 6 homes, so we made our way home, just to find out that he had a little bit of temperature again.
Il pomeriggio di Halloween, Jacomo tutto vestito da cowboy, ha iniziato il suo giro di dolcetto-o-scherzetto per il vicinato. Per tutto il giorno abbiamo avuto una temperatura calda, ma Jacomo, reduce da una febbre a 39 del giorno prima, non se l'e` sentita piu` di continuare, cosi` dopo aver visitato 6 case, siamo tornati a casa, con Jacomo di nuovo con un po` di febbre.




AS we were walking around, I saw a couple of kids barely older than our son, accompanied by their older sisters, and of course my thoughts went straight to our sweet daughter wondering what Vittoria would have dressed up like...
Mentre camminavamo, ho notato un paio di bambini poco piu` grandi di Jacomo, accompagnati dalle sorelle piu` grandi e ovviamente i miei pensieri si sono spostati subito sulla nostra dolce bimba. Mi sono chiesta da che cosa si sarebbe mascherata Vittoria...

26 Months-26 Mesi

Last weekend, Jacomo and I were able to make it to the cemetery before heading up to the cabin to meet up with James. Since it's fall, we made sure that our sweet Vittoria has some fall flowers, of course, and we added a little scarecrow doll since Halloween is fast approaching.
Lo scorso weekend, Jacomo ed io siamo riusciti a fermarci al cimitero prima di avviarci alla baita per ritrovarci con James. Con l'arrivo dell'autunno, abbiamo deciso che anche i fiori di Vittoria si intonito alla stagione, aggiungendo pure una bambolina spaventapasseri, visto che tra circa un paio di settimane sara` Halloween.

She has been gone 26 months today, and still not a second of my day goes by that I don't think of her, miss her and wish she was here. My heart hurts as much as the first day and I don't think it will ever get any easier, but somehow the heartache becomes part of your life, of who you are.
Sono passati gia` 26 mesi, ma non c'e` un secondo della mia giornata che non la penso, che mi manca e che vorrei che fosse qui con noi. Il mio cuore piange come l primo giorno e non penso che questo dolore si attenuera` mai, diventa parte della tua vita e della persona che si diventa .

I always loved the mountains, but interesting enough since Vittoria's passing, I look at them differently, really appreciating their beauty, the calmness and the quiet, almost like an heavenly place.
Ho sempre amato le montagne, ma dalla scomparsa di Vittoria adesso piu` di prima, le guardo sotto una luce diversa, apprezzandone la bellezza, la calma e la pace che trasmettono, quasi fossero un piccolo paradiso.

Ho trovato questo cervo che passeggiava non lontano dalla baita e per un'eternita` mi ha fissato intensamente...


Fall has reached the mountains too...
L'autunno e` arrivato pure sulle montagne..

Today Jacomo finally got to wear the cowboy vest that Aunt Diana andUncle Bruce gave him some time ago, and I think he looks rather handsome in it!
Finalmente oggi Jacomo ha indossato il gilet da cowboy che zia Diana e zio Bruce gli hanno regalato un po` di tempo fa e devo dire che fa proprio un bel figurino!

Fall Trip-Vacanza in autunno

Well, the 2-day stay we had planned so we could attend Grandpa Justice's funeral, turned into an unexpected 3-day trip to the mountains with James' parents and sister Mary and her kids. After getting warm clothes and food ready to go, we embarked on a 2 hour drive to (what seemed to me) the middle of nowhere. But what a pretty sight, the trees already changing colors, you could smell fall in the air, and with the temperature reached 32 F at night, I was glad we had a roof over our heads. It was very relaxing and peaceful to be in the mountains, Jacomo had a blast, and would crash one second after hitting the pillow. We ate some really yummy food and just enjoyed each others' company, even though the second night I got woken up by coyotes yapping and howling not far from our trailers. That was indeed a restless night for a big city girl like me... :)
Il programma di restare per 2 giorni in Price per attendere il funerale di Grandpa Justice, improvvisamente si e` allungato di altri 3 giorni che avremmo trascorso nelle montagne con i genitori di James e sua sorella Mary con le figlie. Dopo aver provveduto al cibo e vestiti invernali, ci siamo imbarcati in un viaggio di 2 ore verso (quello che e` sembrato a me) la terra di nessuno. Ma lo spettacolo era mozzafiato, con gli alberi gia`con i colori autunnali, l'odore dell'inverno in arrivo e temperature sotto zero la notte e grata di avere un tetto sopra la testa. E` stato incredibilmente rilassante e quieto, Jacomo si e` divertito molto anche se poi la sera appena la testa toccava il cuscino, cadeva in catalesse. Abbiamo mangiato alla grande e siamo stati in buona compagnia, anche se poi la seconda notte, sono stata svegliata dal guaire e l'ululare di alcuni coyote non lontano dalle nostre roulotte. Confesso che e` stata una notte piuttosto agitata per una persona di citta` come me... :)

25 Months-25 Mesi

This month I got to the cemetery a little bit later than the 16th and needless to say all her fresh flowers we brought to her on her birthday were all dead. So I cleaned up and put the usual silk purple flowers that will stand the heat of these days. I didn't take any pictures this time, instead I'm posting some photos I took of our trip up to the cabin.
QUesto mese sono riuscita ad andare al cimitero anche se un po` piu` tardi del 16 e infatti tutti i fiori freschi che le avevamo portato per il compleanno erano praticamente disintegrati dal caldo afoso di agosto, cosi` dopo una bella ripulita le ho messo i soliti fiori viola (finti) che almeno non appassiscono dall'afa. Non avendo fatto nessuna foto al cimitero, per questo mese posto delle foto fatte durante il nostro soggiorno alla baita in montagna.

Sadly, on the anniversary of Vittoria's passing this month, we lost a member of our extended family.
WE LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU, GRANDPA JUSTICE!!!! THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU!
