Sunday Morning Again

Not much to write since last night. Vittoria is bleeding a little more. She is being so tough. We are on borrowed time right now. We need a heart...

I wish I know what was going to happen in the hours, days, and weeks to come. She is hanging in there for a reason. It has to be. We wish we knew what that was.

We don't wish a tragedy on anyone. It breaks our hearts to think that is really the only way our child can live. If it wasn't for that sick little heart we would be walking out of here. I would give her mine if I could. All we can do is pray, and pray, and hope....

  1. I can sympathize with your feelings. When we were praying to adopt a child before Patrick, we felt awful because we knew that that child would come to us as someone else was losing him. Now as we're praying for a transplant to come through, I often feel guilty that I'm praying again for another's loss.

Here is one thing that helps me. I voiced these feelings at an adoption conference recently and a woman who'd placed a child for adoption stopped me and said that she didn't see things that way. She said that, for her, adoption had taken two families' tragedies and turned them into one happy ending. I can't help but think, especially as I've gotten to spend some time with families who've chosen organ donation as they've lost a child - that transplant does that same thing. Knowing that some good came of the loss... that some other child was saved... is a source of comfort.

Now as we pray for a transplant to happen for Patrick, we also pray for his donor family. It helps me.

Know that we're also praying for Vittoria. We love her, even though we've never met her. And we're praying for all of you, come what may. What an amazing family you all are!

  2. She is so brave! She seems like such a sweet little gal. We pray for your comfort and peace at this time, and for the miracle of healing for Vittoria.

  3. We had the pleasure of meeting Vittoria and your family in Scofield right after Christmas. She is such a sweet girl and it was so good to finally meet the girl who is always in the Price 6th Ward's prayers.

Val, I can't even pretend to know what you are going through as a mother. Just know that you have been on my mind and in my prayers as you have been going through this with your little girl the last couple of weeks.
